The sass is REAL. So you might be wondering what it is like to have a kiddo at home, or maybe you already have one and are looking for reassurance that you are not alone. Well, let me share with you what the 18th month of raising your baby is like!
Let me first off say that no matter what the circumstance, you love your kids to your very core. There is nothing in the world that could possibly change that, even when you just cleaned up
the dining room and your 1.5 year old decides to whip their lunch off their tray and it splats onto the floor and the wall. The frustration mounts but you have to keep your cool because they are growing, learning, and facing challenges of their own!
Our daughter, Auri is the very reason my husband Jake and I get out of bed every morning. Even though we might have gotten out of bed a few times during the night, too xD. 18 months is such a challenging, but special age as we've come to find out. Auri started to walk at 9.5 months and now we have graduated to full on sprints, obstacle climbing, daredevil maneuvers, and of course spinning and dancing! By now our house is full of barricades to block her from climbing up and down the stairs and getting into things she shouldn't be. She is sweeter than sugar, regularly giving us, her puppies, and her dollies hugs and kisses. Her heart is kind and she is a very sensitive individual, who is very in tune to her surroundings. But for GOODNESS sake the sass and attitude of this little monkey is sure quick to come out!! Here is a quick list of "why my toddler got mad at me":
wouldn't let her chew on a dryer sheet
wouldn't let her visit me while I'm in the bathroom
didn't give her my cell phone
cried because she couldn't see grandma on a phone call (so use to facetime lol)
Auri began "talking" to us a few months ago. Wow, you must say! There is no way she started talking that early! You're right and wrong. This little princess HAS been speaking to us, just in a language she developed all on her own. To you and me, it might sound like gibberish, but to her she is VERY serious. It is super funny to listen to her formulate "words" into little complex sentences of her baby language! Of course she can say some actual English words too like Momma, Dadda, no, stop it, wow, oh!, hi, ball, and plenty more! But man when you try and tell her she needs to stop doing something and she crosses her little arms and starts sassing in baby language, it sure is hard to not laugh!
This age is full of many challenges like sleep regressions, teething, moodiness, getting their little hands on everything, chasing them down constantly, and of course the sass. All of this is an opportunity to teach them everything they need to know to keep growing into the amazing person they are already becoming. Their true personality is starting to shine and you get a great big glimpse at the totally awesome person they are!! We are cherishing every moment and are absolutely loving this age!! We don't want her to grow up too fast, but we are very excited to see the things this little girl will do and of course, what she has to say about it all. :)
