Recently, my family took our first vacation together since our daughter, Auri was born. What better place, then the beautiful island of Fort Myers Beach, Florida? The coast of southwest Florida is absolutely stunning! White sandy beaches, Gulf of Mexico ocean waves gently crashing to shore, and of course those warm, sunny skies. It was a much needed break from the cold winters that Minnesota brings (no matter how "warm" of a winter we might be having this year).
As some of you might know, Fort Myers Beach was hit hard by Hurricane Ian and the island was devastated from this category 5 hurricane storm. Many people lost their homes, their business, and unfortunately some lost their lives. In the wake of destruction, the island is building again, and the people are resilient. We were greeted with warm, welcoming smiles from the local businesses and people who continue to recover from Ian. They are truly an inspiration to others on how they bounce back from such destruction. They choose to keep going and focus on the future, and not focus on the broken, and fallen buildings around them. Fort Myers Beach is as beautiful as ever, and we are so lucky to have been able to enjoy their gorgeous city and cannot wait to visit them again! #FMBStrong
